LEGISLATIVE UPDATE IN NEW JERSEY! (12/21/21)
We would like to update you on an important victory for our U.S. Constitution in New Jersey! The New Jersey Legislature voted yesterday to rescind every state application for an Article V convention to make changes to the Constitution. In total, an estimated eight applications — including a 2015 application from Wolf-PAC for a constitutional convention to decimate 1st Amendment protections, along with an 1861 application related to preventing the Civil War — have been rescinded. Regardless of the intentions behind any applications for an Article V convention to amend, revise, or rewrite the Constitution, the truth is that an Article V convention could be a catalyst for undesirable and far-reaching radical socialist changes to our form of government. All conservatives, patriots, constitutionalists, and Americanists should celebrate the defeat of any and all outstanding applications for a constitutional convention — as even the most obscure Article V convention applications could be aggregated, or combined, with Con-Con applications for other purposes in order to force Congress to call for a convention. Before yesterday, the 1861 application mentioned above had been a prime target for aggregation. As the late U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater once warned, “If we hold a constitutional convention, every group in the country—majority, minority, middle-of-the-road, left, right, up, down—is going to get its two bits in and we are going to wind up with a Constitution that will be so far different from the one we have lived under for 200 years that I doubt that the Republic could continue.” Goldwater's warnings ring true today with the violent radicalism of BLM and Antifa. Such radical leftists and pro-globalist special interests would gladly take advantage of an Article V convention to their benefit. |
On December 2, the New Jersey Senate voted 24-10 in favor of SCR 161, which rescinds the state's past Con-Con applications. Yesterday (December 20), the New Jersey General Assembly voted 43 to 21 to approve the resolution. With the Assembly’s vote, the rescission is official! Congratulations! Your efforts to defend our Constitution have successfully paid off. Nonetheless, our vigilance and fight for freedom continues. Although SCR 161 successfully passed, this does not guarantee that New Jersey is safe from future Article V Constitutional Convention efforts. It also doesn’t guarantee that New Jersey officials will begin following and enforcing the Constitution. Thus, patriots must remain vigilant, actively contacting and educate their current and future elected officials about the dangers of a Con-Con, along with other important issues imperative to keeping our Republic and promoting individual liberty.
